Valentine's

Love is in the air. The month of February is to celebrate the greatest emotion of them all – Love.

Some background:
In Ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honour Juno, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses. The day has been celebrated as a romantic holiday since the 14th century, although mid-February has been a traditional time to celebrate love and fertility for much longer. The festival came to be known as Lupercalia. During Lupercalia, men and women would draw tokens with random names on each of them to pair off for games and exchanges of gifts. The Christian church frowned on the pagan and erotic nature of Lupercalia, and tried to institute a more staid festival to celebrate St. Valentine and Valentine's Day began to evolve into a celebration of love and marriage. The tradition of exchanging cards and tokens was continued, and during the height of courtly love, people began to select their own Valentine's mates.

Some Tips:
Break the shackles of dull and boring gifts like mugs and teddies. Do something new and interesting. Something your loved one would actually like. My husband and I usually celebrate Valentine’s Day at home. We order Sushi, sit on the floor, create a soft candlelight romantic mood, great music and have a glass of bubbly champagne or wine. Save the gift till after dinner to ensure excitement.

When you set up your room make sure it is comfortable. You don’t want to trip over something or burn the curtains with your candle display, save yourself the embarrassment. Less is more, remember that.

Wearing dark eye shadow, soft pink lip gloss and a soft foundation will ensure that romantic, flirtatious, suitable valentines look. Remember to dress sexy but comfortable. Lastly don’t forget to use a light sweet perfume this will definitely add to the romantic mood.

Have a super romantic Valentines’ day

Creative Thinking

I was working on my TV room, looking for the warm African feel. I noticed that the Zulu's are so creative, from scrap they create Art. I guess they have to work with what they got. I love the colours they use to create that warmth feel, I also like the ‘almost’ obstruct animals and people for that cavemen look.
The cliché of the bright colours, the warmth feel the amazing look it give my TV room is that in most of the pictures you see work, hunger, slavery, women with children carrying heavy things, you see suffering. The pictures aren’t just pictures. It is a story, a history.
This will make me thankful for what I have, a reminder of: Ones I was young and now I’m old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor seen their children begging for bread. Psalm 37:25

Just Breathe

The name “Just Breath” was inspired by the movie Ever After where Danielle was in her, also known as the Breathe gown, waiting on Prince Henry. Standing before all the countesses, courtiers and the King and Queen all she could say was... Just Breathe. What I loved about the movie was the dresses, the different styles, accessories and of course the utopia of it all.
I love the antique silver foil lace at the neckline of the breath dress, the organza wings that were beautiful and delicate and the slippers with rich embroidery. If only I could get that gown!
What I also like about the movie was the painting of Danielle, it was based on a real Da Vinci painting but made it look more like Drew.
